I’m always fascinated to look into the ways that creative people live, and thus got pretty giddy when I learned that my interview with Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele would be conducted in her Upper East Side living room. While the camera crew set up, I had time to poke around and paw the framed drawings of her, penned by friends like Karl Lagerfeld and Manolo Blahnik, to perch on the oversized floor cushions made from Hermes scarves, and to pet the Versace silk pillows and Chanel cashmere throws strewn about every surface. Together they all told a story of a woman whose cutting-edge work is informed by a deep sense of classicism, an inherent bravery with color, and an uncompromising love of luxury. Now if only I could show you her closet…!
